Responsibilities and Expectations:

Field Service Technician (Rotating Equipment & Precision Millwrighting)

The Opportunity: Are you a mechanical expert who thrives on finding the root cause of failure and rebuilding equipment to run better than before? You will fit right in.We are looking for a talented Field Service Technician to lead on-site diagnostics, precision repairs, and overhauls of industrial rotating equipment. At IPS, our technicians are more than just "fixers "they are precision experts dedicated to providing an Unmatched Customer Experience.

Primary Responsibilities: Mechanical Craft

  • Precision Assembly & Alignment: Lead the installation and removal of AC/DC motors and coupled equipment. Perform laser alignments and set critical air gaps and mechanical seals to OEM specifications.
  • Detailed Mechanical Inspections: Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators) to diagnose wear, verify tolerances, and ensure equipment integrity.
  • Advanced Overhauls: Replace sleeve and anti-friction bearings, gearboxes and torque critical components using specialized tooling and specs.
  • Technical Testing: Perform essential diagnostic tests using a variety of portable electronic equipment (Megger, PdMA MCE, Multimeter, and DLRO) to ensure system reliability.
  • Specialized Maintenance: Clean and prep electro-mechanical equipment utilizing bead blasting, ice blasting, and solvent cleaning to ensure a professional finish.
  • Safety & Collaboration: Adhere to strict safety standards while working independently or as part of a high-performing team to hit mutual project goals.

Qualifications and Mechanical Competencies:

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience with AC/DC motors, gearboxes, pumps, or similar rotating industrial equipment.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proven ability to read and interpret precision measuring instruments and technical blueprints.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose mechanical failures in a fast-paced, continuous improvement environment.
  • Communication: Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate technical findings professionally.
  • The "Road Warrior" Spirit: Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable record; willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed for on-call field service.
  • Technical Extras (Preferred): Experience with PdMA testing or Level I Vibration Analysis is a significant plus.
