As the French Language Services Driver Examiner, you will conduct written and road tests for all classes (except Class 1) of licences including Driver Fitness testing for Manitoba drivers in accordance with the Driver Testing and Licensing Manuals and schedules. You will provide information to the public regarding Driver Testing and Licensing procedure and department requirements. Driver Examiners are responsible for operating the Mobile testing units.

  • Conduct written, oral, taped oral, non-official language, driver fitness, air brake, slack adjustment, and road tests for all classes of driver’s licences (except Class 1) for Manitoba drivers according to a pre-assigned testing schedule.
  • Conduct vision screening to confirm if an applicant meets vision standards.
  • Review Manitoba and inter-provincial licensing systems to determine the status of out-of-province drivers and to confirm any departmental requirements i.e., suspensions, medicals, etc.
  • Issue licences and explains any coded conditions.
  • Explain written and road test errors and discuss corrective measures in accordance with the marking guide, laws, regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Conduct General Driving Assessments with drivers who have physical, visual and mental health disabilities and submits results and recommendations to the Manager, Driver Testing and/or Driver Fitness.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of medical reports, off-suspension and coding sheets for submission to appropriate sections to update the driver’s file.
  • Provide training and procedural support to junior Driver Examiner while working in a Service/Claim Centre or Driver Testing Centre in accordance with Driver Examiner Testing and Licensing manuals.
  • Maintain statistics and filing systems including mobile testing.
  • Conduct oral examinations in lieu of written tests for class 5 licences, as required.

Education /Études:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Diplôme d’études secondaires ou équivalent.

Experience /Expérience:

  • Four years of customer service experience.

Technical Knowledge and Skills /Connaissances et compétences techniques:

  • Must have a valid Class 5F driver’s licence, in accordance with P28.
  • Intermediate 2 oral French Language skills are required.

  • Candidate must be able to travel by road, water or air.
  • This position may be required to work non-business hours.
