Job description

We are actively seeking a skilled CDL Class A (Commercial Driver's License) Driver with experience in touch freight handling to join our transportation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating commercial vehicles, transporting goods, and handling touch freight with efficiency and care. This role requires a commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage physical tasks associated with touch freight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and navigate commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers, in various road and weather conditions.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Load and unload touch freight using proper equipment and techniques.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, such as delivery receipts and logbooks.
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely and professional interactions with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to minimize accidents and injuries, especially during touch freight handling.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and report any issues to the maintenance department.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Education and Experience
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area, e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no history of major accidents or violations.
  • Proven experience as a CDL Driver or similar role.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time-management abilities.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance.
