Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology-Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of acute care experience and current Epic experience.

Details
  • Oncology Med/Surg unit within a cancer hospital setting
  • Patient population includes soft tissue malignancies receiving chemotherapy, diagnostic services, and symptom management
  • Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • 12-hour rotating Day/Night shift schedule (7:00 PM-7:30 AM or corresponding day shift)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
  • Float required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Acute care experience must be current and within the last 12 months in the specialty applied for
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience accessing and managing ports
  • Arterial line management experience
  • Blood product administration experience
  • Central line and PICC line care/management experience
  • IV start proficiency
  • Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management experience
  • ABG interpretation skills
  • Experience with PCA and insulin drip titration preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and no coworker references accepted

  • Provide oncology-focused med/surg telemetry nursing care including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
  • Manage patient comorbidities and monitor for cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is welcomed even without prior travel experience
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this location
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
