Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an OH or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent PCU experience.
Details
- PCU unit with 22 beds (16 rooms) and an average daily census of 20
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
- Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3x12)
- Every other or every third weekend required
- Floating within OSU required
- EPIC used for documentation
- Pyxis used for medication administration
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU experience required
- Experience with similar patient population preferred
- Previous charge RN experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role, with the second acceptable from a charge RN (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric PCU patients requiring step-down level monitoring and intervention
- Skills utilized may include IV therapy, central and PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, wound care/wound vac, and insulin drip titration
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing their contract due to strict compliance timelines
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
- RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
