Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) night shift position requiring neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry experience, along with at least 1 year of Epic EMR proficiency.
Details
- Work setting is a 24-bed IMC unit (2 West) in an acute care hospital
- Adult patient population with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend requirement
- Float assignments to other units or campuses may be required based on census needs, limited to areas where competencies have been documented
- Epic EMR used; minimum 1 year of experience required
- Specialized procedures include IV starts, port access, PICC line management, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Respiratory care responsibilities include trach management, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), ABG interpretation, and various oxygen delivery methods
- Cardiac care includes post-MI, cardiac cath and angiogram recovery, dysrhythmia management and interpretation, and telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Additional clinical skills include PCA, procedural sedation, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration), feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, renal failure management, and pre/post hemodialysis care
Requirements
- Active SC or compact/multistate RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a comparable IMC, neuro stepdown, or cardiac telemetry unit
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Demonstrated competency in neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry nursing
- Proficiency with respiratory equipment including HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- This position falls under Exception 2 of the health system's radius policy: candidates must reside 50+ miles from the relevant flagship hospital (Prisma Richland or Prisma Greenville) to be eligible
- Two professional references are required for consideration
- Orientation is held every Monday
- Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials, which are typically provided within 24 hours of contract signing
- Modules are completed prior to the contract start date and are required annually; up to 16 hours of module time is eligible for reimbursement
- After three consecutive 13-week contracts (39 weeks), travelers must either begin converting to employee status or take a minimum 6-month break before returning as a traveler
