Drill Cool Systems is hiring! Our equipment and our team have been improving oil and gas drilling for over 40 years. Now hiring Service Technicians based out of our Equipment Yard in Converse, LA. Come join a great team!


Shift: 7 days on/off rotation.

Location: reports to service yard in Converse, LA. Company housing provided for technicians whose residence is over 60 minutes from service yard.


Heavy physical labor and long hours required.


Must have drilling rig experience with 3+ years working Motors or Derricks!!


The Service Technician provides mechanical and/or electrical service support for installation, maintenance, and demobilization of mud cooling equipment from various drilling rig sites. Supports repair and troubleshooting of mud cooling units, and preventative maintenance on units not currently in use, at local service yard. To be successful in this position, the Service Technician must communicate thoroughly and honestly with our team and our customers.


Essential Functions:

  • Conducts installations of Geo-Coolers or Geo-Chillers on customer drilling rig sites.
  • Conducts demobilizations of Geo-Coolers or Geo-Chillers on customer drilling rig sites.
  • Responds to service calls and services equipment on customer drilling rig sites. conducts inspections of electrical, air system, water system, mud system, structural and inventory. Descales unit and makes appropriate notification or repair for any failed inspection.
  • Serves as company representative on drilling site and maintains professional, thorough communication with customers.
  • Completes all required safety training and refresher safety training in a timely manner, utilizes proper PPE and follows all Drill Cool Systems, Customer and OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintains proficient, honest communication and documentation of field conditions and service events to Management. Requires extensive use of Outlook, Excel, Calendars, OneDrive and smart phones. Documentation includes but not limited to: Service Tickets, JSA's, Inspection Reports, Expense Reports, Time Cards, Job Pictures, and Mileage Sheets.
  • Immediately notifies Management according to procedure regarding field conditions and service events, particularly when a problem arises.
  • Repairs company equipment, including various components such as mud pumps, air systems, water systems, and mud systems. Performs basic welding, cutting, and grinding for equipment builds and maintenance.
  • Performs setup, maintenance and basic repair on both 120Vac and 480Vac systems. Basic wiring including cutting and stripping, wiring electrical plugs and receptacles, up to 200 amps. Maintains proper wire termination and labeling.
  • Performs phase and motor rotation, and wires mud and HTF pumps. Understands and utilizes proper cable fitting devices and techniques.
  • Strives to operate and conduct customer service in light of company Mission and Values.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required - high school diploma
  • 5+ years oil & gas experience on a drilling rig, preferably as Motorman / Tool Pusher
  • 2+ years general maintenance experience working with industrial equipment required
  • HVAC, Electrical, or Welding experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Office 365 Suite, computers, and smart phones
  • Valid Driver's License, insurable according to company policy
  • Able to work long hours and be on call during your shift
  • Ability to report to the service yard and work shift rotations as needed
  • Rig (drilling) experience a MUST!

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate to Heavy manual labor will be performed for 12+ hour shifts.
