SSR Mining - Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Driller, Long Hole.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Operations, the Driller, Long Hole, will be responsible for operating various underground mining equipment in a safe and efficient manner. You will operate a percussive drilling rig in an underground environment, including loading explosives, installation, and grouting of cables for support. You will prepare daily reports of all drilling activities, that will reflect footage drilled, ground conditions, time spent performing other activities besides drilling, and reporting supplies consumed.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to drill with CMAC drills and electric Stope Master drills.

  • Read and understand planned drill patterns.

  • Wash, scale and make safe drill areas to be marked up.

  • Drive, set up and operate a single-boom pneumatic long hole rig. Capacity to drill to a high standard.

  • Do minor repairs to rig: replace hoses, shank adaptors etc.

  • Shot firing.

  • Participate in regular toolbox safety meetings.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the department.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Good communication skills are essential.

  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.

  • Must have a complete knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and engines an asset.

  • Underground Common Core an asset.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.

  • Minimum two-three (2-3) years' experience in an underground hard rock mine.

  • Previous Long Hole Drilling an asset.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
