Machine Operator - EDM | Houston, TX | $20-$25/hr
About the Role
Join our high-performance manufacturing team as a Machine Operator specializing in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM). You will play a vital role in producing precision components using advanced EDM technologies in an organized, safety-focused, and collaborative shop environment. This is a first-shift opportunity (4AM-12PM) with exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training for career growth.
Responsibilities
- Set up, program, and operate RAM EDM, Wire EDM, and EDM Drill machines to produce high-precision parts
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process sheets to ensure accuracy
- Select and install electrodes, wire, fixtures, and workholding devices
- Perform machine offsets, process adjustments, and routine preventive maintenance
- Safely operate overhead cranes for loading/unloading components; inspect lifting equipment before use
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Document production, inspection, and job records accurately
- Maintain workstation organization and cleanliness in line with 5S standards
- Identify and troubleshoot basic machining and programming issues
- Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in EDM machining
- Proficient in Wire EDM, RAM EDM, and EDM drilling
- Skilled at machine setup and programming
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of precision measurement and machining practices
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Charmilles, Mitsubishi, or similar EDM brands
- Overhead crane operation
- Forklift operation/certification
- Additional CNC or machining experience
