Job description

*The schedule for this position will be nights on Monday-Thursday 2000-0700*
Extended Coverage Driver Managers are the lifeline of our professional drivers. They are responsible for assisting in a variety of driver needs but also directly managing and directing the work of professional drivers. Driver Managers are required to take actions or make recommendations that are given significant weight with respect to discipline, terminations, and other changes of a driver's employment status, often requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant business matters.
Responsibilities
  • Manage driver interactions along with providing coaching and documenting for any issues
  • Communicating availability and ETA's to planning and customer service
  • Accurately updated workflow details to TMW and Service trace
  • Confirm driver routing for expirations, maintenance, trade trucks, and manage ETO
  • Manage turnover with a balanced approach to solving a driver's problem and doing what's right for both the driver and company
  • Maintain mileage goals for drivers and trucks
  • Be available for efficient communication with drivers, and in-house personnel
  • Maintain 15 minutes or less response time with our professional drivers and 30 minutes or less for in-house email communication.
  • Track breakdowns tractors assigned to their fleet
  • Create a culture of safety by keeping a safety-first attitude
  • Ensure a high level of utilization for tractors and drivers.
  • Maintain accurate, swift information in all programs
  • Ability to manage multiple fleets.
  • Monitoring the management of equipment, which includes communicating and following through on maintenance needs of assigned trucks and escalating extended down times to manager
  • Managing the ability to locate/secure hotels, busses, and/or Lyfts for drivers when needed. Assisting Safety and professional drivers with Logs and HOS management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to deescalate.
  • Knowledge/continued cross training required for various roles within fleets and fleet assist departments.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multitask

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Higher education a plus.
  • Logistics and Transportation experience preferred.
