 POSITION SUMMARY: 


Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the mechanical operation, maintenance, and performance of Draw-Redraw (DRD) food can manufacturing equipment across multiple facilities. Provides hands-on support, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for DRD production lines to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and product quality.


This role acts as a shared mechanical resource supporting operations in the United States and Mexico, with travel up to approximately 30%. The Senior Draw Press Mechanic partners closely with plant leadership, maintenance teams, and operators to resolve complex equipment issues, implement best practices, and ensure optimal machine performance.


This position is highly autonomous and suited for a senior-level, hands-on mechanical expert with extensive DRD draw press experience.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 


Serve as the company's mechanical expert in Draw-Redraw (DRD) can manufacturing equipment

Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of DRD production lines, including cupping, body making, redraw, and associated equipment 

Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, tooling, and equipment-related issues impacting safety, quality, and productivity 

Monitor equipment performance and ensure machines operate within specifications and quality standards 

Execute and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve reliability 

Partner with plant maintenance and operations teams to identify root causes and implement practical, sustainable solutions 

Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new or rebuilt DRD equipment and tooling 

Establish and standardize maintenance and operating best practices across facilities 

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation 

Train and mentor maintenance technicians and operators on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and proper maintenance techniques 

Evaluate tooling condition and performance, making adjustments and recommendations as needed 

Travel to manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Mexico (approximately 30%) to provide on-site, hands-on support 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive equipment reliability and operational performance

 Education & Experience

10+ years of hands-on mechanical experience in DRD (Draw-Redraw) food can manufacturing required 

Proven expertise in draw press operation, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance 

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tooling, clearances, and press performance 

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals 

Prior experience with leading can manufacturers or OEMs preferred 

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain high-speed production equipment 

Experience supporting multiple facilities in a field-based or traveling role preferred 

Ability to work independently as a mechanical SME with minimal supervision 

Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor technical teams
