Job description

  • Operates CNC machine to cut, shape, or form work pieces to specifications.
  • Is responsible for proper identification of product and routing procedure
  • Is responsible for start up and shutdown of equipment
  • Is responsible for proper loading and unloading of parts.

·         Is responsible for operating and monitoring performance of CNC machine (including machine start up and shut down as well as

·         loading and unloading of parts) to produce work pieces in compliance with production and quality goals.

  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools
  • Changes cutting tools and location of work pieces during machine process as specified in set up instructions.
  • Performs to achieve production and quality goals.
  • Measures work piece for conformance to specifications using dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Is responsible for housekeeping
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Has basic reading and math skills; can follow instructions
  • Has knowledge of and operates within scope of IATF 16949:2016 procedures.
  • May use statistical process control techniques.
  • Reviews set up sheet specifications; understands machining sequence and dimensions of finished workpiece
  • Changes inserts
  • Adjusts offsets
  • Assembles cutting tools in tool holders; positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified using hand tools; inserts cutting tools
  • in specified machine magazines.
  • Troubleshoots minor problems.
  • Adjusts tooling offsets to keep product within designated specifications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education

 and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability

 to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry

 and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of

 technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
