Controls or operates machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line. May be expected to handle heavy machinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate and control chemical process equipment. Consult with technical and management personnel and make appropriate adjustments to meet safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and respond to process control systems, recording instruments, flowmeters, gauges, panel alarms and lights, and any other indicator required to run process and maintain process control, safety standards, quality standards and efficiency of the process. Make adjustments to process equipment and systems.
  • Charge specified amounts of materials into precipitators; operate valves, conveying systems, and field instrumentation in specified sequence. Adjust controller settings and direct Product Handling Technicians to make adjustments on equipment affecting the chemical process, product quality and safety of operations.
  • Draw samples of raw materials, intermediates and finished products and perform chemical analysis as defined in process Control plan. Interpret chemical reactions through reviews of sample analysis. Adjust process conditions as necessary to maintain product quality standards.
  • Record process instrument readings, conditions and other relevant operating information in shift logs, calculate raw material requirements and product yield as required. Start-up and shutdown equipment/process for routine and emergency situations. Perform cleaning and purging of process equipment and lines. Assist technical personnel in plant repairs and inspections. Use appropriate tools to properly and safely open, close, remove and secure equipment.
  • Make repeated rounds through the production process to visually inspect for leaks and hazards. Complete required paperwork associated with inspections.
  • Responsible for plant housekeeping. Perform routine/non-routine housekeeping tasks to maintain good safety standards.
  • Perform ESHQ related jobs as documented in Management System documentation.
  • Enter data into the SAP enterprise management software system including maintenance request, raw material and finished product quantities. Utilizes MS Office and other computer software programs.
  • Record, maintain and analyze data both in written and electronic form.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma required. Post high school training in a technical or manufacturing related field preferred.
  • Basic skill level with Microsoft Office software preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment team is required.
  • Candidate must be able to progress through job training program and perform multiple roles within a production related setting. Must be able to function well within a high performance team environment.
