Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for safely performing all duties and actions associated with the production processes of quality inspection, packaging, labeling, verification, documentation and moving of manufactured product and raw materials within the facility. This involves the various duties of final packaging, staging and storage of finished goods and raw materials. The PIT employee is responsible for setting up and operating packaging and labeling equipment, making minor repairs and adjusting machine settings to specifications. This position will respond to robot, T-Car and various inspection, packaging and labeling alarms resolving minor issues.
DUTIES:
* Proper startup/shutdown of equipment within the Production Department
* Inspects product for various molding defects and color uniformity per standard work instruction
* Utilize IBM and/or tablets for documentation of quality checks and monitoring of product weight
using a scale
* Utilize tablet/computer for work instruction and basic documentation
* Hand truck operation for movement of raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility
* Identify and address safety related concerns
* Complies with GMP, Food Safety and HACCP programs
* Loads, adjusts and repairs boxes, bags and tape operation on machines
* Loads and adjusts carton label printers
* Maintain proper conveyance operation
* Operate printers, labeling machines and foam/foil inserters as necessary
* Troubleshoot basic molding machine issues and perform basic preventative maintenance
* Perform proper line clearance as necessary
* Follow documented escalation procedures
* Records production and scrap output utilizing appropriate forms/database
* Assist teammates of the PIT crew wherever needed
* Communicate with team and shift supervisor
* General housekeeping
* All other duties as assigned

Skilled with hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, Allen wrenches, screw drivers and other small hand tools. Able to troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical problems as well as identify mechanical wear or functional issues with equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Repetitive bending from the upright position to approximately a 35 degree angle
* Standing for up to 12 hours per day
* Ability to push, pull, or drag empty pallets weighing approximately 60 lbs. from the staging area
to warehousing
* Pulling or pushing a hand jack carrying loads up to 500 lbs.
* Ability to transport, if necessary, a box of product weighing up to 27 lbs. for a short distance
* Ability to install and remove a UV printer head weighing approximately 45 lbs.
* Ability to stoop and bend at the knees to pick up items weighing 15 to 50 lbs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, checklists, operating instructions, and computer screens. Ability to speak effectively with all team members and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
