Job description

We have an immediate need for a CAD Draftsman for a steel products distributor located in northwest Houston. The role is responsible for creating drawings from customers’ drawings utilizing CAD/CAM software suites such as Sigmanest, OmniWin, and ProNest. Accuracy and attention to detail are required, along with effective interpersonal and written skills.


Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to create toolpath and define cutting parameters using the CAD/CAM software suites.

• Ability to choose the correct cutting tools and materials for each operation as needed.

• Successfully run machining simulations to confirm program accuracy, minimizing material waste, and refining machining strategies.

• Effectively collaborate with machine operators to diagnose and resolve programming, tooling, or machining issues.

• Maintain proper documentation and version control of all CAD files.


Requirements:

• Proficiency in software suites such as Sigmanest, OmniWin, and ProNest.

• Experience with nesting software and CNC layout planning.

• Strong understanding of material properties, cutting processes, and fabrication workflows.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a high-paced environment.
