Job description

We are seeking a talented senior civil drafter to join our team who will assist us in preparing the drawings for site preparation, grading, drainage, paving, and roads. The civil drafter will produce detailed and accurate drawings, and portions of the 3D models, that comply with all the civil design criteria. The candidate must be detail oriented, willing to use basic geometric math, and can visualize the geometry in 3 dimensions. The candidate must also be highly motivated, be willing to coordinate with other disciplines, and be able to keep track of multiple tasks with separate deadlines.


This position will report to the Manager of Civil Engineering. This position is located in Downtown Houston and is a Monday-Friday in office position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare 2D design drawings — Develop sketches and the 2D components of detailed civil design packages.
  • Support lead designers and engineers — Assist in producing and issuing complete drawing sets, including plans, details, notes, profiles, cross‑sections, legends, key plans, and schedules.
  • Contribute to 3D modeling — Work with the lead designer on selected aspects of Civil 3D model development.
  • Perform drawing checks — Participate in checking and back‑checking of drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Resolve design conflicts — Help identify and address clashes between disciplines.
  • Coordinate document reviews — Assist with routing and tracking interdisciplinary reviews.
  • Manage document uploads — Support the team by uploading drawings and files into the document control system.
  • Respond to discipline requests — Provide drafting support to other departments as needed.


Qualifications

  • One or more of the following drafting/design credentials (or equivalent):
    • Associate degree or higher in CADD/CAD or an engineering‑related field
    • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in AutoCAD
    • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Civil 3D
  • 1–3 years of experience preparing civil site development drawings.
  • Experience in oil and gas is preferred.
  • Civil site development experience is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.
