Job description

Primary Purpose:

Safe and efficient repair and maintenance on company fleet of storage and over the road trailers

Supervision:

  • Reports to DTI Leadership
  • Executes work under direction or established procedures 90% of the time.
  • Works independently setting work schedule priorities 10% of the time.
  • Does not supervise others.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of company fleet of trailers.
  • Maintain proficiency in all aspects of preventative maintenance procedures on company fleet of trailers.
  • Tests, repairs, and/or replaces electrical and lighting components per established procedures.
  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul brake systems per established guidelines.
  • Ability to professionally interact with customers, vendors, and other employees regarding equipment repairs and other shop business.
  • Completes required paperwork including equipment write-ups, work orders on a daily basis.
  • Assists in the compiling and maintaining all documents necessary to comply with the requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Applies lean tools and thinking to identify and eliminate waste
  • Follows and applies standard work and work instructions

Occasional Work Performed:

  • Temporary assignments in other areas of the garage as needed.

Safety Responsibility:

Assumes responsibility for the workplace safety of self and co-workers, and for the safety conditions of the work location.

Working Conditions:

  • Minimal overtime may be required to fulfill responsibilities. No overnight travel expected.
  • Extensive standing and/or walking on concrete asphalt in outdoor environment.
  • Temperature extremes (Winter Summer working conditions) working in both indoor and outdoor weather conditions as required for maintaining trailers and associated equipment.

Requirements:

*High school diploma or general equivalency degree required.

*Previous experience performing semi-trailer repairs, 2 years preferred.

*Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred,

*Be able to read/comprehend service information.

*Must meet D.O.T. safety-sensitive position requirements.

*Good attitude toward work place and fellow employees.

*Demonstrated aptitude in PC / laptop computer skills.

*Excellent verbal, written communication skills including excellent organizational skills.

*Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse group of personnel and function as a team player.

*Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
