Responsibilities
  • Highly motivated, qualified, and client service-orientated Project Engineer specializing in roadway/highway construction management
  • Construction schedule monitoring
  • Project budget monitoring
  • Field supervision of trained technicians
  • Translate and implement project plans and special provisions
  • Evaluate and document construction operations
  • Sample, test and provide acceptance for materials used on projects according to standards and special criteria
  • Complete required project documentation including progress payments and contract changes to achieve final project acceptance
  • Ensure quality control activities are performed for all assigned work and back check work of others
  • Interact and communicate effectively with design team members, clients, and other agencies

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • DOT Construction Management experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in construction inspection and construction layout staking
  • One or m of DOT construction material certification in: Aggregate Production, Bituminous Plant, Bituminous Street, Bridge Construction, Concrete Field, Concrete Plant, Concrete Strength, Gra,ding and Base
  • Familiarity with state Department of Transportation standards
  • Good decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality, and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power Point) CADD (MicroStation preferred)
  • Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required)
  • Knowledge of topographic and construction surveying
  • Design experience
  • Have a solid understanding of DOT's consulting expectations and needs
  • Experience in roadway design using GEOPAK and MicroStation
