Overview:

The Identification Services Operator II reports to the DSIS Program Manager and provides DOS ID services for Department employees and contractors and other federal government employees/contractors (applicants). The incumbent also performs required and mandated functions and processes and provides customer support services to system users, employees, and visitors.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Processes applicants for DOS ID cards.
  • Processes applications for passport/visa photos.
  • Processes ID card applications.
  • Prepare status reports.
  • Provides customer service support.
  • Provides training to other users on integrated security management systems.
  • Updates files.
  • Identifies and resolves DOS ID card problems.
  • Identifies and resolves basic access control problems.
  • Conducts FBI fingerprints of government employees and contractors.
  • Conducts simple background checks.
  • Conducts Quality Checks on daily applicant processing.
  • Enrolls e-QIP applications.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • N/A


Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Education.
  • 2 years of clerical and data entry experience or 2 years of college coursework (60 credit hours).
  • 1 year of experience working with IDMS.
  • 1 year of experience with HSPD-12 procedures and policy.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Applications/Programs.
  • Good typing skills.
  • Good customer services skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform work with supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • N/A


Security Clearance:

SECRET Level Required, with ability to obtain TOP SECRET

  • Must have a current United States Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance and be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation for a higher level of access at the TOP SECRET level.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to maintain required Security Clearance/access approvals.

Work Environment:

General office environment. The primary place of performance is the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Travel is required for this position.
