Job description

The purpose of the Lift Maintenance Mechanic is to inspect, test, maintain, repair and install mechanical lift equipment at Willamette Pass Resort, including chairlifts and all other ski area equipment to ensure safe and efficient system operations. This position is ideal for a lift electrician/mechanic looking to take the next step in their ski industry career. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems to ensure safe operations on mountain systems, including 6 chair lifts (with one being a surface conveyor).

  • Schedule and execute annual, monthly, weekly and daily maintenance on chairlift mechanical equipment.

  • Respond to and determine cause of lift problems with public on board and implement solution by repair.

  • Perform and document regular operational testing, preventive maintenance and trouble shoot potential problems.

  • Fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training.

  • Climb chairlift towers wearing a fall protection harness, while carrying tools, to troubleshoot and repair equipment and issues at heights up to 65 feet.

  • Read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals to maintain an unwavering absolute understanding of the resort’s equipment.


 

Other Responsibilities:
  • Consistently collaborate with all mountain operations departments to contribute to mountain-wide communication and safety. 

  • Stay positive, focused, and constructive when faced with setbacks, challenges, and while working in an ever-changing environment

  • Produce high employee morale, motivation and guest satisfaction in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other laws governing personnel environment and equipment safety for the purpose of ensuring safety in the workplace.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum one year experience as a Level I Lift Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician

  • Knowledge of ski lift operation and controls.

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical tools and equipment.

  • Knowledge of low voltage control systems, PLCs, HMIs and other complex mechanical/electrical interfaces.

  • Knowledge of Riblet and Doppelmayr aerial lifts. 

  • Skill in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

  • Skill in Google Workspaces and standard computer interfaces.

  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to troubleshoot, identify and correct problems.

  • Ability to perform in inclement weather conditions and terrain for sustained periods.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, any hours of the day, any days of the week.
