Job description

General Manager – The Salty Donut (Coconut Grove)

Leader of People. Driver of Café Culture. Owner of the Four Walls.
The Salty Donut is a chef‑driven, craft donut and specialty coffee shop known for small‑batch flavors, artisanal ingredients, and unforgettable guest experiences. Our Coconut Grove location is designed as an elevated café environment — a space where coffee craft, hospitality, and community come together. We’re looking for a dynamic, café‑forward General Manager to lead this flagship shop and bring a refined, high‑touch coffeehouse experience to life every day.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing café team across FOH & BOH, with a strong emphasis on coffee craft, beverage consistency, and guest engagement.
  • Champion an elevated coffee program — ensuring baristas are trained in espresso fundamentals, milk texturing, beverage quality, and seasonal menu execution.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences with a warm, positive, “+1” hospitality mindset that reflects Coconut Grove’s premium café culture.
  • Oversee daily café operations including scheduling, labor, inventory, ordering, and store standards.
  • Maintain uncompromising product quality across donuts, pastries, and all beverage offerings.
  • Drive KPIs including P&L, COGS, labor, sales, and customer sentiment.
  • Manage community activations, events, and local partnerships that reinforce the shop’s role as a neighborhood café hub.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train team members who embody The Salty culture and thrive in a craft coffee environment.
  • Solve problems proactively and maintain a calm, confident leadership presence.
  • Maintain a standard 50‑hour work week (five 10‑hour shifts), with flexibility to increase to 55–60 hours during high‑volume periods, staffing needs, or special events.

What You Bring:
  • 4+ years of management experience in specialty coffee, café, bakery, or premium QSR environments.
  • Hands‑on experience leading baristas or coffee teams, with strong knowledge of espresso equipment, beverage standards, and café workflow.
  • Experience leading teams of 10+ per shift.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, labor management, scheduling, and operations.
  • A guest‑obsessed, people‑focused leadership style rooted in hospitality.
  • Ability to stay composed in high‑volume, fast‑paced café environments.
  • Positive, coachable, humble attitude with a drive to grow.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.

What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary + monthly bonus.
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Matching HSA + 401(k).
  • Company‑paid life insurance.
  • 6 weeks paid parental leave.
  • PTO, Sick Time & Well‑Being Time.
  • Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Pet insurance.
  • 40% off donuts, coffee, merch, and catering.
  • Friends & family discount.
  • Anniversary program.
  • Real growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding brand.

Ready to Lead With Us?
If you’re a hands‑on café leader who loves people, craft coffee, and creating memorable guest experiences, we’d love to meet you. Apply today and help us build something special.
