In a university context, especially in the UK and some Commonwealth countries, a 'Don' refers to a senior academic member such as a professor or fellow who is responsible for teaching and mentoring students. Dons often oversee tutorials, guide students in their academic progress, and may also be involved in research activities within the university. The term is most commonly associated with Oxford and Cambridge, where Dons play a central role in the collegiate system.

What are some common leadership challenges faced by a don at a university?

As a Don, balancing administrative responsibilities with supporting faculty and students is a frequent challenge. Effective communication and adaptability are key to successfully navigating these challenges and advancing in your academic leadership career.
