Job description

The Dojo is an immersive, fast-paced environment where clients come to practice the latest in agile, product management, leadership, and modern engineering practices with dedicated coaches. This is not traditional classroom training, but rather a place where coaches roll up their sleeves to guide clients through hands-on application of practices to their actual work. Our coaches embed with client teams, build trust quickly, and then guide them through hands-on applications of theory within clients’ organizational systems (and constraints).

Dojo coaches are not disbursed amongst multiple teams like traditional coaching engagements. Instead, they are fully embedded and committed to helping a single team improve. Clients leave their current working environment to enter the Dojo, leaving behind their normal ways of working. Your role as a Dojo coach will be to help our clients achieve their desired outcomes, joining your guidance, expertise and technical recommendations to co-own and shape their experience.

A key focus of this role will be helping teams start or evolve their AI adoption and AI-assisted testing practices. You will help introduction pragmatic uses of AI in security hardening applications, automation of business processes, and other incremental improvements that align with client goals.

The ideal candidate is passionate about unlocking the maximum potential of individuals, teams, and organizations through technical coaching. They have experience working in an agile environment, are comfortable co-leading with other coaches, and are used to working in team environments.

Responsibilities and Day-to-Day View:

• Embed within client teams to understand their codebases, organizational constraints, and delivery pressures

• Build strong relationships with working teams, stakeholders, and sponsors to ensure client satisfaction

• Pair directly with coaches/developers to assess and enhance engineering maturity, system architecture, and security practices

• Co-leading an engagement with another talented coach. This includes co-creating coaching plans, co-facilitating sessions, and collaborating to meet the outcomes of our clients.

• Technical discovery sessions with customers. Understanding their unique challenges, strengths, and opportunities for growth.

• Coach teams on breaking work down into small batches that meet outcomes

• 1:1 coaching and mentoring of developers, and other technical areas as needed.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

• In depth understanding and use of common AI models (Claude, Gemini, CoPilot, etc.)

• In depth understanding of principles, best practices, and strategies for AI-assisted development

• Must have strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills with both written and verbal communication skills.

• Skilled at communicating with all levels in the organization, including technical engineers and executives.

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary. 

• Ability to evaluate and implement new innovations on process improvement and technology

• Understanding of cloud native technologies including development, deployment, security, and system reliability design patterns 

• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines with emphasis on fast, reliable automated feedback loops

Minimum Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related roles

• Experience working directly with delivery teams in a hands-on, embedded capacity

• Experience applying AI to improve software quality, testing, or security

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with application security practices in Java ecosystems (e.g., SAST, DAST, dependency scanning)

• Experience integrating AI-testing in CI/CD pipelines and practices

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105.00 - $105.00/hr.
