What is a dog model?

A Dog Model is a canine that participates in photo shoots, commercials, films, or live events to showcase products, brands, or artistic concepts. These dogs are trained to follow commands, pose, and sometimes perform tricks to capture the desired shots. Dog models are often used in advertisements for pet products, fashion brands, or entertainment projects. Owners typically work with agencies or directly with brands to secure modeling opportunities for their pets.

What is a typical workday like for a dog model and their handler?

A typical workday for a Dog Model and their handler may involve traveling to different locations for photo or video shoots, participating in rehearsals, and spending time socializing with other animals or people on set. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the dog is calm, comfortable, and ready to follow cues from photographers or directors, while also keeping schedules and maintaining the dog's appearance. The job can be dynamic, with days varying from short, local sessions to full-day shoots that require patience and adaptability. Collaboration with creative teams, animal trainers, and sometimes other animals is common. Successful Dog Models often have supportive handlers who are proactive in managing their needs and maximizing their performance opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the dog model position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dog Model, a dog typically needs to be well-groomed, sociable, able to follow commands, and comfortable in various environments. Experience with basic training tools and participation in dog training or handling classes are often beneficial, as is familiarity with photo and video shoots. Patience, adaptability, and a strong bond with their handler help a dog stand out in this position. These skills ensure the dog can perform reliably on set, interact safely with people and other animals, and fulfill the creative expectations of clients.

How much do you get paid for dog modeling?

Dog models typically earn between $200 and $1,000 per day, depending on factors such as experience, the type of project, and the market. Payment can vary widely, with some high-profile campaigns paying more, and often involves contracts that specify usage rights and duration. Successful dog models usually have good training, temperament, and may require professional photos or portfolios to secure higher-paying jobs.

Associate Veterinarian or Chief of Staff | Middleton Veterinary Hospital | Middleton, WI

Middleton Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our team as either an Associate Veterinarian or Chief of Staff. Whether you're looking to continue practicing exceptional medicine as an associate, step into leadership immediately, or grow into a leadership role over time, we offer the flexibility, support, and resources to help you build the career you envision. For veterinarians seeking additional variety, there is also an optional opportunity to split time between Middleton Veterinary Hospital and nearby Spring Harbor Animal Hospital in Madison. Prefer to practice exclusively at Middleton? That's absolutely an option, too. For more than 70 years, Middleton Veterinary Hospital has proudly provided compassionate veterinary care to pets and their families in the Middleton community. Our practice is built on compassion, collaboration, laughter, and a genuine commitment to supporting one another—both professionally and personally.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Work alongside an experienced support staff that includes 6 CVTs

  • Enjoy work-life balance with no weekends, no late nights, and no team members working more than 40 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling available, with doctors typically working 3-4 weekdays from 8 am-5 pm
  • Enjoy monthly celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, and just about any other reason to gather and have fun—because free food and laughter make every month better
  • Work with a team that embraces individuality, values humor, and truly enjoys spending time together
  • Share your workdays with our beloved clinic cat, Jelly, who takes her sunbathing responsibilities very seriously

Doctors interested in leadership will have access to our leadership training program and will partner closely with our highly experienced Hospital Manager, a CVT with more than 12 years of leadership experience.

Practice Highlights
  • Full-time opportunity with flexible scheduling options
  • Optional split schedule between Middleton Veterinary Hospital and Spring Harbor Animal Hospital
  • Gold Certified Feline Friendly Practice
  • Team members certified in Low Stress Handling techniques

  • Proud sponsor of the Middleton Police Dog program
  • Team members actively support Angel's Wish rescue efforts
  • Dedicated "Angel Fund" helps provide medical care for pets whose families are experiencing financial hardship
  • Ongoing fundraising efforts allow us to continue supporting pets and the people who love them
