Department Overview:
We are a welcoming family with an active, creative middle schooler looking for a reliable mentor to join our support team! Our child lives in two loving households in the area (split-custody arrangement), so we are looking for a candidate who is comfortable split-scheduling between both locations depending on the week.
Both homes are warm, supportive environments and include friendly, pet-loving dogs and cats-so candidates should be comfortable around pets!

Part-time position requiring 2-3 weekday evenings and 1 weekend shift per week. We can be flexible on which specific days you work to accommodate your class or work schedule!
  • Weekday Evenings: Starts at school pick-up time (4:40 PM or 5:30 PM, depending on after-school clubs) and runs until 9:30 PM for the evening routine. There is flexibility here depending on class/work schedules.
  • Weekend Shift: One flexible morning or afternoon shift for baking, crafts, or community outings.

Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $17.00 to $19.00

Relationship & Mentorship: Build a trusting, positive relationship and act as a neuroaffirming adult to support personal goals.
Routines & Transitions: Provide gentle prompts for evening routines and daily transitions to reduce demands on the family.
Homework & Independence: Help the student get started on homework and scaffold independence during tasks.
Activities & Fun: Spend time doing activities they enjoy, including discussing books, baking, crafts, and play.
Social & Community: Model positive social interactions and facilitate community outings
Qualifications:
Must-Haves (Required):
  • Great with Youth: Energetic, patient, and natural with middle schoolers.
  • Reliable Transportation: Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle for school pick-ups and community outings.
  • Neuroaffirming Mindset: A respectful, supportive, and understanding approach to working with neurodivergent youth.
  • Comfortable with Pets: Both cats and dogs.
  • Flexibility Across Locations: Comfortable split-scheduling between two local households (split-custody arrangement).

Nice-to-Haves ( Not required):
  • Shared Hobbies: Passion for or interest in baking, reading/talking about books, board games, or crafts.
  • Relevant Studies or Background: Experience or coursework in Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Development, or Youth Mentorship is a plus-though a warm personality and reliability are the most important!
