What does dog friendly mean in a job or workplace context?

'Dog friendly' in a workplace means that employees are allowed to bring their dogs to work. This policy is designed to create a more relaxed and enjoyable work environment, reduce stress, and improve employee satisfaction. However, there are typically guidelines to ensure that dogs are well-behaved, vaccinated, and do not disrupt other employees. Not all workplaces are suited for a dog-friendly policy, so it's important to check the specific company's rules before bringing a dog to work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a dog walker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dog Walker, you need a good understanding of canine behavior, basic animal first-aid knowledge, and physical fitness, often supported by experience or training in animal care. Familiarity with pet tracking apps, scheduling tools, and safety equipment like harnesses and leashes is helpful. Patience, reliability, and effective communication with pet owners set standout dog walkers apart. These skills ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs, build client trust, and support smooth daily operations.

Job description

Position: Taproom Ambassador (Taproom Team)
Paws On Tap
Whitestown, IN
What this role really is
This is not a "bartender," "runner," or "waiter/waitress" role.
This is a team-first, guest-aware operator who moves where the business needs them in real time. You are the extra set of eyes, the early problem-solver, and the person who makes things feel effortless for our guests.
If you like standing in one place doing one task, this is not the job.
If you naturally notice what others miss and jump in without being asked, you'll thrive here.
What you'll do
You will float between responsibilities based on what's happening in the moment:
  • Welcome guests and help them understand how Paws On Tap works
  • Assist with food pickup, running, and guest support
  • Keep the space clean, safe, and flowing (tables, floors, dog areas, tap wall)
  • Help guests navigate self-pour, mobile ordering, and the overall experience
  • Step in before a guest has to ask for help
  • Support your teammates wherever needed
  • This is a "see it, solve it" environment.

You'll do well here if you:
  • Notice things before they become problems
  • Move toward issues instead of around them
  • Take ownership without waiting for direction
  • Stay calm and positive in a fast-paced environment
  • Genuinely enjoy people and dogs
  • Care about the team's success more than your individual task

You think like this:
  • "That table looks unsure, I'll check in."
  • "That dog is getting stressed, let's create space."
  • "The tap wall is backing up, I'll redirect traffic."
  • "My teammate is slammed, I'll jump in."

What won't work here
This role is not a fit if you:
  • Need constant direction
  • Say "that's not my job"
  • Avoid problems instead of solving them
  • Get overwhelmed by changing priorities
  • Struggle to work as part of a team

Our environment
Paws On Tap is intentionally different.
  • Dog-friendly (with strict safety standards)
  • Self-pour taproom with mobile ordering
  • High energy, but controlled and intentional
  • Built on respect, accountability, and teamwork
  • We are creating an experience, not just serving food and drinks.

Expectations
  • Be proactive, not reactive
  • Be a great teammate first
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times
  • Follow all dog safety and guest policies without exception
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully

Why this role matters
You are the difference between:
A guest having to ask for help and a guest feeling like everything just works. That gap is the entire experience.
Compensation & Perks
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Tips
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Growth opportunities as we expand
  • Work in a unique, high-energy, dog-friendly environment

Final note
We don't just hire for skill. We hire people who want to be part of building something.
If you're the kind of person who takes pride in doing things the right way, looks out for others, and wants to be part of a strong team, we'd love to meet you.
