The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Vehicle Assembly Document Coordinator.
Job Summary
The Vehicle Assembly Document Coordinator creates, maintains and owns accurate product line-wide vehicle assembly documentation (aka "Build Book" - our single source of truth for the assembly of the world's greatest motorcycles). This documentation typically spans several model years, all international configurations, and requires managing change forward to future build books concurrently. The role is highly integrated with Vehicle Engineering, Data Management, and Global Advanced Manufacturing and requires daily collaboration and communication to ensure stakeholder needs are met. Motorcycle design, maintenance and assembly knowledge will be advantageous.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Create, revise, and release Build Books (BBKs), establishing vehicle assembly documentation baselines and incorporating approved engineering changes through the ECN process.
  • Add and maintain model and configuration-specific content within Build Books, including part numbers, fastener specifications, quantities, color codes, and trim codes in accordance with released engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate and maintain vehicle assembly documentation, ensuring Build Book content is accurate, current, and aligned with approved engineering releases.

Configuration Management
  • Ensure vehicle build book documentation accurately reflects the approved and locked vehicle configuration.
  • Evaluate and coordinate implementation of configuration scope changes (CSC's), identifying required cross-functional support and updating vehicle assembly documentation accordingly.
  • Create and maintain engineering change documentation to support configuration updates and ensure traceability.

Data Management
  • Support 3-Way and 4-Way reviews with assembly plants to ensure alignment with standard work.
  • Understand and navigate vehicle Bill of Material (BOM) structure and relationships to support accurate product documentation.

Experience Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (with experience using macros)
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience or demonstrated capability in mechanical design and product development
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross functional, team based environment
  • Strong problem solving and technical communication skills
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical degree preferred
  • General knowledge of motorcycles
  • Motorcycle Bill of Material (BOM) or equivalent vehicle experience
  • Understands the concepts of BOM structure, part attributes, and configurations.
  • Detail oriented with ability to work with multiple sources of information to create the Build Book (i.e. Color Chart, Options Matrix, Configuration Matrix, ECNs)
  • Windchill/PLM experience required to create Engineering Change Request (ECR)/ECNs
  • Ability to review engineering changes and understand how they impact the Build Book
  • Ability to manipulate Virtual Assembly for screenshots and assembly instruction (experience with CAD systems with large assemblies)
  • Strong communication skills

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
