Job description

• Scans as a cardiovascular sonographer, staffing at a minimum of 60% of the time with office duty 40% of time when staffing and workload allows. (3 days per pay period office duty.)
• Monitors daily workflow and makes teammate adjustments when necessary due to workload. (Coordinates with Vascular Coordinator)
• Review upcoming outpatient schedules for Cardiology procedures to ensure that the correct studies are ordered and scheduled properly.
• Works with centralized scheduling to ensure orders are correct, notify providers for clarification and/or order changes, and coordinate the scheduling of studies with other appointments.
• Works to fill empty shifts by contacting prn teammates to fill these shifts. Covers shifts when unable to find adequate coverage.
• Monitors timecards for accuracy and makes necessary changes/additions for all Cardiology teammates. (Shares this with Vascular Coordinator)
• Monitors and maintains competencies/education books for Cardiology teammates (all staff) at Smithfield and Clayton.
• Ensures license/certifications for all teammates are current, and updates the education books, education department, and HR accordingly.
• Ensures teammates LMS completion.
• Monitors US equipment, logging routine maintenance, scheduling p.m.'s, troubleshooting equipment issues and notifies Trimedx or appropriate Vendor for service as needed.
• Orders supplies (stock, nonstock, and special orders) on a weekly basis through INFOR for Cardiology department at Clayton.
• Maintains supply stockroom and TEE stock at Clayton.
• Maintains TEE scope cleaning equipment, and records to comply with TJC standards at both locations.
• Monitors and audits the TEE processing logs monthly at both locations to ensure that teammates are cleaning probes properly and all required steps are documented correctly.
• Maintains TEE probe processing competencies for teammates.
• Reviews Cardiology policies as needed and sends any recommended changes to department director.
• Assists in prospective teammate application review and interviews.
• Routinely conducts departmental huddles and reports back to manager and director.
• Assists with departmental Synapse PACS , which includes monitoring worklists, ensuring that reports are completed and assigned properly, that reports in Synpase are in Epic, splitting or merging studies as needed, and assigning accession numbers, etc.
• Serves as an Epic SuperUser for both locations. Enters Epic Helpdesk tickets for issues the department needs assistance with.
• Works with Epic Cupid team regarding changes made in Epic for Cardiology Dept. Attends Epic Cupid Workgroup meeting when possible.
• Monitors the Epic worklist DAILY for both locations.
• Investigates when reports are not complete and notifies physicians if studies need to be read.
• Reviews teammates work daily to make sure charges are accurate and keep logs for missed charges. These are listed on MDI board. These are reported monthly to the Department Director. (attempt to catch and fix daily)
• Reviews sonographer's work and logs mis-assigned studies. These are also listed on the MDI board. These are reported monthly to the Department Director. (attempt to catch and fix daily)
• Monitors preliminary venous reports and makes sure that the preliminary report is compared to the final report. Any discrepancies are investigated, and physicians notified if needed.
• Makes and maintains pediatric echo call schedules and distributes accordingly.
• Makes and maintains Cardiologists call schedule (pulled from Amion website) and distributes accordingly
• Serves as Technical Director for Cardiac accreditation for IAC. Initiate and maintain accreditation requirements.
• Plans and conducts Cardiovascular Sonographer's meetings with Cardiologist, arriving early to ensure Conference room is unlocked, Webex is started, and equipment is set up to see Synapse screen for those attending in person and via Webex. Keeps record of attendance to meetings. Sends meeting minutes to teammates in a timely manner.
• Monitors department to comply with TJC standards as well as attending and conducting departmental readiness rounds.
• Initiates work orders as needed for department for ISD, engineering, Biomed, environmental services and follows up to make sure that work orders have been taken care of.
• Aids department director/manager preparing for departmental budget requests by identifying needs and securing budgetary quotes and final quotes for such equipment.
• Liaison for JCC Cardiovascular Sonography program and students that perform their clinicals here.
• Orients new teammates on departmental policies, procedures, and expectations. Ensures teammates have appropriate access and training on equipment and related systems. (Shared with Vascular Coordinator)
• Train sonographers in new studies and new equipment as needed.
• Ensures patient service recovery is performed and that the recovery items are restocked.
• Sends Synapse studies to other facilities that use PowerShare as needed. Burns CDs of studies as needed for those that do not use Powershare.
• Monitors Sonographer Critical Results for Echoes to make sure that staff is compliant with critical results policy. This is reported to the department director and staff monthly.
• Assists staff with using electronic language interpreter and associated user issues with this device.
• Acts as lead in the absence of manager/director, handling departmental functions and addressing concerns accordingly.(Shared with Vascular Coordinator)
