Responsibilities
Octave is seeking a highly skilled Data Conversion Specialist with expertise primarily in SQL Server to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and executing data conversion processes to migrate information from legacy Records Management systems into our Hexagon's OnCall Records system. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL scripting skills, understanding of various formats and platforms, excellent communication abilities, and experience validating data integrity throughout the conversion lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Mapping
• Analyze legacy system data structures and map them to target system schemas.
• Create and maintain detailed mapping documentation for all conversion processes.
• Collaborate with business analysts and product teams to ensure accurate data transformation.
Script Development & Testing
• Write, optimize, and maintain SQL Server scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
• Experience with cross-platform data manipulation/migration (i.e. XML-> MSSQL, Oracle->MSSQL, etc.)
• Develop automated processes to streamline data migration and reduce manual intervention.
• Conduct test runs of conversion scripts, troubleshoot issues, and refine processes for accuracy and efficiency.
Data Validation & Quality Assurance
• Perform rigorous data validation to confirm accuracy and completeness of converted data.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between source and target systems.
• Document testing results and maintain audit trails for compliance.
Customer Communication & Expectation Management
• Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and timelines.
• Provide regular updates on conversion progress and manage expectations regarding deliverables.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Process Management
• Plan and execute test runs prior to production migration.
• Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure smooth cutover and minimal disruption.
• Document conversion processes, scripts, and validation results for future reference.

Education / Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Proven experience with SQL Server (T-SQL scripting, stored procedures, performance tuning).
• Strong understanding of data conversion, migration, and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with Records Management systems and related data structures.
• Excellent customer communication skills and ability to manage expectations.
• Strong documentation skills for mapping and process workflows.
• Ability to analyze complex datasets and ensure data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with SSIS or other ETL tools.
• Knowledge with Azure, Sales Force, and Microsoft Teams.
• Background in records management or Public Safety Experience.
