Job description

Epic Piping has an exciting opportunity available for a Nuclear Document Control Supervisor to be an integral part of our team. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Document Maintenance

  • Supervise and oversee Document Controllers performing the storage, retrieval, and archival of company documents.
  • Ensure the company's document lifecycle procedures are followed and consistently applied across the document control function.
  • Oversee compliance with the records retention schedule and coordinate periodic archival and disposition activities.
  • Ensure quality assurance records are maintained and retained in accordance with ASME Section III, Subsection NCA-3800 (Quality Assurance) and NQA-1 Part I, Requirement 17 (Quality Assurance Records).
  • Oversee document control support for 10 CFR Part 21 recordkeeping requirements related to defect and noncompliance evaluations.
  • Train, assign work to, and evaluate the performance of Document Controllers.
  • Serve as the point of escalation for document control discrepancies identified by staff.

MTR Verification

  • Oversee the MTR verification process performed by Document Controllers to ensure heat number and material certification checks are completed prior to release.
  • Review and approve resolution of MTR discrepancies escalated by staff.
  • Ensure MTR verification practices remain consistent with ASME Section III, Subsection NCA and the referenced Section II material specification.
  • Coordinate with Material Control and Quality Control management on unresolved or recurring MTR nonconformances.
  • Determine whether material nonconformances identified during MTR verification warrant evaluation and reporting under 10 CFR Part 21.
  • Audit MTR verification records periodically to confirm procedural compliance.

Weld Logging

  • Oversee training of weld loggers on Xenon data entry and NDE selection procedures.
  • Review Xenon weld log entries and traveler/shop sketch documentation for accuracy across the fabrication shop.
  • Ensure weld logging practices comply with ASME Section III (NB/NC/ND-4000, Fabrication and Installation, and NB/NC/ND-5000, Examination), as applicable to the class of construction.
  • Ensure welding is controlled as a special process consistent with NQA-1 Part I, Requirement 9 (Control of Special Processes).
  • Initiate corrective actions for recurring weld logging errors identified during review.
  • Serve as the subject matter resource for weld logging system questions from Document Controllers and shop personnel.

Final Lot Determination

  • Ensure final review and approval of weld lot determinations prior to release of spools for Paint/Shipment.
  • Confirm lot NDE results meet the acceptance criteria referenced in ASME Section III (NB/NC/ND-5000) prior to authorizing lot closure.
  • Resolve escalated lot discrepancies between traveler, weld log, and NDE records.
  • Coordinate with QC/NDE personnel and Quality Control management on lot acceptance status for non-routine conditions.
  • Determine whether lot nonconformances require evaluation and reporting under 10 CFR Part 21 prior to release.
  • Maintain oversight of lot determination records to support audit and traceability requirements.

Final Document Package Compilation

  • Oversee assembly of spool dossiers by Document Controllers to ensure compliance with the approved Job Instruction (JI).
  • Review completed documentation packages for completeness and sequencing, and confirm compliance with ASME Section III, Subsection NCA-8000 (Certification), prior to client submittal.
  • Ensure completed packages satisfy the retention and traceability requirements of NQA-1 Part I, Requirement 17 (Quality Assurance Records).
  • Resolve documentation discrepancies identified during package compilation.
  • Approve final dossiers for release to the customer inspector.
  • Support internal and external audits of completed documentation packages.

Final Document Review

  • Ensure final review and sign-off of spool dossiers prior to submittal to the customer inspector.
  • Ensure all required signatures, stamps, and approvals are present prior to submittal.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inspector comments or requests for additional information.
  • Determine whether conditions identified during final document review require evaluation and reporting under 10 CFR Part 21.
  • Confirm Data Report content and Certificate Holder's Certification comply with ASME Section III, Subsection NCA-8000, prior to submittal.
  • Maintain records of final review status, inspector sign-off, and associated corrective actions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Education:  High School Diploma or GED; Preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years' experience in document control within a fabrication or engineering environment; 1+ years' experience in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office, Xenon Weld Logging, NDE Selection/NDE Report Entry, Matvis
  • Certification/Licenses: None specifically required
