As a Senior Material Control Manager for Advanced Manufacturing, you will be responsible for all material management aspects of purchased major capital equipment and materials for large Projects (Projects with a Total Installed Cost of $750M+). The Senior Material Control Manager applies functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems while implementing innovative solutions. Dedicated lead on projects with accountability for team members and ongoing activities or objectives.

Leverage your passion and experience as you conduct and coordinate Material Control transactions associated with purchased complex materials/equipment as assigned. The Senior Material Control Manager has thorough knowledge and understanding of materials management concepts, principles and practices, and techniques of ensuring task completion. They understand the role of material control and its integration with other project functions, accomplish value-added expectations, and perform assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Senior Material Control Manager has the demonstrated experience to advance the knowledge of a subject area or commodity.

The Senior Material Control Manager reports directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Integration, Advanced Manufacturing. While supporting Jacobs' Projects, the Senior Material Control Manager will report indirectly to the assigned Project Procurement Manager (PPM), Construction Manager, or Project Manager.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • As a Material Control Manager, develop upfront materials planning activities such as developing the Material Control Execution Plan (MCEP), establishing Material Control Strategies, and developing project-specific templates, reports and tools
  • As a Material Control Manager, provide general discipline guidance to Construction Management & Procurement Professionals who may be assigned to the Project. This typically includes providing on-the-job training, offering support and guidance, and performing material management systems instruction
  • As a Material Control Manager, use critical thinking and problem solving to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Project's Materials Management efforts
  • Utilizes established policies, procedures, systems, and tools
  • Reviews Shipment Release Request related Supplier documentation and ensures that Shipment Authorizations are approved in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the purchase order and the Material Control Execution Plan
  • Coordinates the receipt of purchased equipment and responsible for preparation and issuance of Material Receiving Reports (MRRs), Overage/Shortage/Damage Reports (OS&D), and Equipment Preservation Log to accomplish project or group objectives and obligations
  • Evaluates facts surrounding material control problem areas and applies remedies to resolve it
  • Maintains material control documentation in a project repository
  • Identifies and advises management of material control related risks
  • May serve as the lead material controller or lead materials coordinator on medium to large size projects or tasks and may act as a subject matter expert in regard to a commodity or specialized subject area
  • Helps stakeholders in understanding the overall Material Control process
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. No direct reports. Supervises the work of less senior material controllers and support personnel who assist with the material control activities
  • Coordinates with project or departmental personnel in performance of the purchasing activities

  • Bachelor's degree in the discipline of business, construction, supply chain, logistics, or operations management, or equivalent project experience
  • 15+ years of experience in capital equipment field materials management
  • 10+ years of experience in Advanced Manufacturing Projects (or related industry)
  • Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
  • 10+ years of experience using Materials Management software &/or Enterprise Purchasing Systems, including hands-on expertise with inventory control and procurement processes (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Smart Materials).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work and thrive in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • A drive to solve complex and challenging problems
  • Willingness to indirectly lead and mentor a team of material control professionals
