Job description

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned, non-profit animal hospital with a mission to keep pets in loving homes while creating a supportive and rewarding environment for the doctors who make this possible. Alongside their adoption center, they care for adopted animals, although most of their work focuses on outside clients. They are now seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team. While the hospital primarily treats small animals, there are opportunities to see exotics or even large animals if a doctor is interested, and they are always open to expanding services around a doctor's particular passions.

Working Hours / Rota
This hospital is committed to building schedules that work around its doctors rather than the other way around. The hospital itself is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30am until 6:00pm, and doctors typically work ten-hour shifts starting at 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. However, both full-time and part-time positions are available, and the leadership team is very open to designing an arrangement that fits a doctor's lifestyle and preferences. Weekends are not part of the routine schedule, as Saturday is already covered by another doctor, though there may occasionally be a need for coverage due to vacations or illness.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This is a role where you can truly shape your day-to-day clinical life. The hospital is high volume and efficient, with around sixty to seventy surgeries performed each day, meaning that if a doctor wishes to focus only on surgery, there is more than enough caseload to support that choice. Alternatively, if a doctor prefers to focus on appointments and wellness care, there is also ample demand for that path. Clinical services span surgery, dentistry, wellness, preventative medicine, diagnostics, and internal medicine. Above all, the hospital prides itself on providing strong mentorship and support, making it an excellent environment for new graduates to grow while also offering experienced veterinarians the chance to expand their skills in the areas they choose.

Practice Details
The hospital has recently completed a five-year project to create a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility, designed with both staff and patients in mind. It now offers five exam rooms, six surgery tables, modern break areas with an on-site cafeteria, and private lounges for doctors to relax and recharge during the day. Advanced equipment includes a brand-new CT machine, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, a fully equipped in-house laboratory, and bloodwork capabilities. Services include everything from preventative and sick-pet care to dentistry, spay and neuter surgeries, diagnostics, and pharmacy support. The practice culture is mission-driven and collaborative, with a focus on removing financial stress from the exam room by helping clients with flexible payment options. This ensures doctors can focus on providing care without worrying whether their patients can afford treatment.

Team
The hospital team consists of three full-time and one part-time veterinarian, supported by one licensed veterinary technician and at least three assistants per doctor. In addition, dedicated receptionists, phone operators, and housekeeping staff ensure that doctors can devote their time and attention solely to practicing medicine. The hospital frequently hosts veterinary students and takes pride in being a mentoring-focused workplace where collaboration, learning, and professional growth are encouraged.
