Cranfill Sumner LLP is seeking a dedicated full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to join our Raleigh office. Position Overview

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our attorneys and legal staff with day-to-day administrative and legal tasks. You will enhance attorney effectiveness by managing case files, preparing legal documents, and coordinating critical events such as hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain client and case files, including conflict checks, calendaring deadlines, and organizing documents.
  • Possible preparation of non-billable medical record indexes and/or chronologies per attorney preference.
  • Draft, review, and edit correspondence with attention to detail and timely turnaround.
  • Proficiency in efiling and service of pleadings and related legal documents, including accurate and timely service on all parties in accordance with court rules and procedural requirements, confirmation of filings, and corresponding docketing.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and successfully scheduling complex, multiparty legal meetings, including depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings, often involving multiple attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and thirdparty vendors.
  • Coordinate and prepare materials for meetings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors to advance case progress.
  • Perform legal and factual research, summarize depositions, and assist with e-discovery and document management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all firm and client guidelines.
  • Support multiple attorneys simultaneously and assist other team members as needed.
  • Contribute to overall client service excellence.
