Job description

Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is a fully managed service that simplifies running Kubernetes on AWS. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDEII) to join the management plane and insights team responsible for EKS availability and resiliency, AWS service integrations, and cluster insights across the entire fleet.
We own the services that generate cluster insights at massive scale, handling millions of events per second across one of the world's largest managed Kubernetes fleets. We also own EKS zonal shift including Kubernetes control plane integration with AWS Application Recovery Controller (ARC). When an Availability Zone goes unhealthy, our services shift traffic to healthy zones automatically with no customer action required.
If building foundational infrastructure that keeps millions of clusters running interests you, we'd like to talk.
Key job responsibilities
You'll work on fleet-wide data consistency, multi-region failover, real-time ingestion at millions of events per second, and high-availability service design - problems that sit at the intersection of distributed systems, Kubernetes, and operational automation at massive scale.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Kubernetes, Docker or containers ecosystem, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities and experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
- Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
- Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP), or experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting and experience in Kubernetes, Docker or containers ecosystem
- Experience with project delivery
- Experience in enterprise architecture including virtualization technologies & distributed architecture
- Experience developing operational metrics
