We currently are looking for a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Floater Customer Service Representative (DME FCSR) to join our rapidly growing DME Department at our 6949 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN location. This is a full-time position (35-40 hrs./week) with a varying schedule between this location’s hours of operation (see more information below in “Qualifications”)
In addition to their own designated specialties, all DME CSRs share multiple responsibilities that are focused around providing compassionate, exemplary customer service both in person, onsite, and over the phone with patients and their physicians and insurance carriers while coordinating their care.
The tentative starting pay for this position starts at $13.50/hr. Compensation is based on experience, results of a pre-hire online personal assessment test, and the interview process. A pre-hire background check is required. A drug screen may be performed prior to employment and randomly after hire.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrating and enforcing the Company’s Vision-Mission-Values statement.
  • Using the highest-level of professional oral and written skills with patients, visitors, vendors, healthcare professionals, and co-workers. Ability to describe complicated details in an easier-to-understand manner for customers who are not familiar with Durable Medical Equipment processes, procedures, and requirements.
  • Cross-training, learning, understanding, and completing duties for all DME sub-departments to provide excellent coverage and assistance as/when needed.
  • Answering customers’ questions about the various DME sub-departments. Answering questions about statuses of claims and/or billing process.
  • Providing administrative assistance for various DME sub-departments and the DME Manager, as/when needed. This includes, but not limited to, processing Prior Authorizations (PAs), insurance verifications, processing medical claims and/or billing.
  • Assisting the DME Manager with specialized DME and/or Building amp; Grounds projects and/or tasks, as needed.
  • Stepping in to assist where needed within the DME department but also in other departments in need.
  • Helping cover the front reception DME desk in the absence of the Front Desk DME Customer Service Representative on a rotating schedule with team members for lunch breaks and end-of-day .Assisting patients and customers with prescription, over the counter (OTC), CBD, and DME purchases.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned and/or required the DME Manager or other members of Management.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • REQUIRED: Flexibility to work varying shifts within the hours of operation which are M-F 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-2pm and alternating holidays 10am-2pm.
  • REQUIRED: Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and related programs (especially Excel).
  • STRONGLY PREFERRED: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with direct patient and medical supply customer service.
  • PREFERRED: Minimum of one (1) year experience in processing Prior Authorizations (PAs) for DME supplies.
  • PREFERRED: Minimum of one (1) year experience in processing Medicare/Medicaid claims.
  • Exceptional, positive, and professional written and communication skills.
  • Excellent work ethic, including positive attendance records, inquisitive nature, and desire to go above and beyond for customers and coworkers. Open to coworker feedback and instruction. Takes initiative.
  • Diligent attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Multi-tasking efficiency is vital. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, daily changing work environment.
