What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Django React position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Django React developer, you need strong proficiency in Python (with Django) for backend development and JavaScript (with React) for front-end work, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with REST APIs, version control systems like Git, and deployment tools such as Docker or cloud platforms is often required. Effective communication, problem-solving ability, and teamwork are key soft skills for delivering complex web applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills ensure seamless integration of backend and frontend components, efficient project execution, and high-quality user experiences.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Django React developer?

As a Django React developer, your typical day involves designing and coding new application features, fixing bugs, and collaborating in code reviews to ensure high standards. You’ll work closely with back-end engineers, front-end designers, and possibly product managers to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions. Managing API integrations, maintaining databases, and ensuring responsive user interfaces are also key aspects of the role. Regular team meetings, version control through platforms like GitHub, and communication via tools like Slack or Jira are common parts of the work environment. This collaboration-driven workflow helps deliver cohesive, reliable web applications within agile development cycles.

What is a Django React job?

A Django React job typically involves developing web applications using Django for the backend and React for the frontend. Django, a Python-based framework, handles server-side logic, APIs, and database management, while React, a JavaScript library, builds dynamic and interactive user interfaces. Professionals in this role are expected to integrate the two technologies seamlessly, ensuring efficient data flow and user experience. Responsibilities may include building RESTful APIs, managing state in React, and optimizing application performance.

Job description

Job Title: Software Engineer (Python, Tableau, Django, React/Redux)

Location: New York City, NY (Onsite)

Type: Contract

Duration: Long Term

Job Description:

Software Engineer III (Associate) - Full-Stack Automation & AuthE (External User Login, Build + Run)

About the role:

We are seeking a full-stack software engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise automation platforms that streamline business intelligence and analytics workflows across the firm.

You ll combine deep Python/Django backend development with modern frontend engineering (React/Redux), building resilient cloud-native services and integrations with platforms like Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Cognos, Qlik, and Alteryx.

A core part of this role is enabling non-workforce (external) users to securely log in to internally built web reporting applications through Authentication Everywhere (AuthE), the strategic authentication & authorization platform for non-workforce users. You ll work in a build + run model, owning features end-to-end and partnering with infrastructure and security teams to keep services reliable in production.

What you ll do:

External user login + AuthE

  • Use firm-approved AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot; Claude Sonnet/Opus) to accelerate development of full-stack features, automation, and integrations while maintaining code quality and review standards.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on automation and integration approaches using AI-assisted workflows (e.g., scaffolding services, generating tests, drafting technical documentation) to shorten delivery timelines and increase throughput.
  • Implement and support AuthE-based login for non-workforce users accessing internally built web reporting applications (human interactive authentication).
  • Configure and troubleshoot AuthE-supported authentication patterns and flows used by the application (e.g., OAuth 2.0 / OIDC and/or SAML federation, depending on the chosen pattern).
  • Support access and entitlement management workflows and user access issue resolution tied to external reporting access.
  • Own production support for external user access, including logging configuration/management, monitoring/alerting, and incident management across the external platform.
  • Coordinate periodic AuthE operational activities (e.g., certificate renewals) to maintain uninterrupted authentication services.

Automation

  • Build operational automation around external user onboarding/offboarding, group configuration, and synchronization to AuthE where required.
  • Design and develop scalable full-stack applications using Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and React.
  • Maintain automation systems that reduce manual BI workflows across multiple lines of business.
  • Develop microservices to interact with distributed cloud clusters and internal infrastructure tools.
  • Partner with cloud and infrastructure teams to provision and manage data source connections.
  • Ensure high reliability, observability, and operational excellence in production systems (monitoring, alerting, incident response).
  • Author comprehensive technical and user documentation for developers, users, and executive stakeholders.

Required qualifications:

  • 3 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend development experience with Python and Django.
  • Experience building REST APIs using Django REST Framework.
  • Frontend experience with React.
  • Experience with asynchronous task processing (Celery or equivalent).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar).
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Cloud Foundry, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of Git workflows and PR best practices.
  • Experience operating in Agile delivery environments.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with AuthE capabilities used for external login (e.g., username/password + OTP, federated SSO via SAML, OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow).
  • Experience automating BI platforms (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Cognos, Qlik).
  • Experience building internal enterprise tools.
  • Familiarity with MySQL.
  • Experience integrating with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Gaia, Jenkins).
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce manual operational effort through engineering solutions.
  • Experience supporting production systems with SLAs, monitoring/alerting, and incident management (L1/L2/L3).
