Ice Centre Attendant (Skate Rental / Concessions / Skate Monitor)

Reports To: Ice Centre Supervisor
Employment Type: Part-Time
 

Position Overview

The Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking versatile and enthusiastic Ice Centre Attendants. Under the supervision of the Ice Centre Supervisor, team members will fulfill roles in Skate Rental, Concessions, and/or Ice Monitoring based on skills and facility needs.

General Requirements

  • Scheduling: Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Teamwork: Willingness to assist in multiple positions as needed.
  • Safety: Consistent enforcement of facility rules to ensure guest comfort and safety.

Core Responsibilities by Position

1. Skate Rental

  • Guest Service: Distribute, collect, and organize rental skates and skate aids.
  • Maintenance: Sharpen rental skates (training provided) and inspect equipment for safety.
  • Facility Upkeep: Perform cleaning duties before, during, and after public sessions. [1, 2]

2. Skate Monitor

  • Ice Safety: Skate during public sessions to monitor guest behavior and enforce safety rules on and off the ice.
  • Experience Required: Strong ice-skating proficiency is mandatory for this role.
  • Operational Support: Help clean facility spaces and assist the Skate Rental counter during peak times. [1]

3. Concessions

  • Point of Sale: Securely process cash and credit card transactions using the POS system.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and serve food and beverages efficiently.
  • Inventory & Compliance: Restock inventory and strictly follow all local food safety and sanitation guidelines.
