Job Purpose

The District Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through consultative, solution-based selling of EnerSys products and services within an assigned territory. This role combines strong sales execution with deep technical understanding, enabling the representative to align customer operational, technical, and financial objectives with EnerSys' motive power and energy solutions.  The District Sales Manager operates independently, manages complex sales cycles, engages multiple customer stakeholders, and serves as a trusted technical advisor to customers across industrial, fleet, and commercial environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing complex sales opportunities and developing customer-focused technical solutions.
  • Own and manage a defined sales territory to achieve or exceed revenue, margin, and growth objectives.
  • Apply product, application, and industry knowledge to understand customer operational challenges and develop tailored solutions.
  • Develop compelling value propositions supported by financial impact analysis, feasibility assessments, and total cost of ownership models.
  • Identify, qualify, and engage key customer stakeholders including technical, operational, financial, and executive decision makers.
  • Lead deal strategy including opportunity planning, pricing strategy, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
  • Generate new business through customer prospecting, presentations, and closing of sales opportunities.
  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with distributors, fleets, OEMs, and end-user customers.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other CRM tools to manage opportunities, forecasting, pipeline reporting, and customer data accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, service, operations, product management, and national accounts to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies and provide actionable insights to sales leadership.
  • Represent EnerSys at customer sites, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Support national and regional account initiatives to ensure consistent technical and commercial execution.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including safety, environmental, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of EnerSys products, technologies, and business processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years of sales experience, preferably in B2B or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated success selling technically complex products or solutions.
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate pricing, margins, ROI, and total cost of ownership.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and business documentation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, or related field.
  • Experience in motive power, transportation, energy, or industrial markets.
  • Experience working with distributors, fleets, OEMs, or industrial customers.
  • Industry-related technical or safety certifications.

Travel Required: Frequent travel within the assigned territory and nationally as required, including overnight travel of up to 50%.

  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company's driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
