Job description

Description:

Serendipity Wines is a growing wine distributor built around exceptional producers, strong customer relationships, and a modern approach to wine sales. We are looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Wine Sales Representative to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about wine and wants to build a career in professional sales. The successful candidate will combine wine knowledge and hospitality experience with strong business skills, technology, organization, and a genuine ability to build lasting partnerships with accounts. Wine distributor experience is highly valued, but we will also consider candidates with strong restaurant, retail wine, hospitality, or beverage sales backgrounds who are ready to take the next step into distributor sales.

As a Wine Sales Representative, you will manage an assigned territory and customer base while developing new business and growing existing accounts. You will be responsible for planning your territory, managing your sales pipeline, presenting wines, securing placements, and creating sustainable growth. This is an outside sales position requiring daily account visits, relationship development, and the ability to manage your business independently.

Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for your assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with restaurant, retail, and hospitality customers.
  • Consistently grow existing accounts while identifying and opening new accounts.
  • Conduct wine presentations, tastings, staff trainings, and sales meetings.
  • Present products with confidence, communicate value, and overcome objections.
  • Identify opportunities for new placements, menu features, displays, and increased volume.
  • Meet or exceed established sales, distribution, and activity goals.
  • Maintain an organized sales pipeline and follow up consistently on opportunities.

Technology & Account Management

  • Utilize CRM and sales technology to manage account information, activity, opportunities, and follow-ups.
  • Use digital ordering platforms to place orders, review inventory, analyze account history, and monitor sales.
  • Leverage account data, sales reports, depletion information, and other business intelligence to make informed selling decisions.
  • Maintain accurate account notes, contact information, opportunities, and next steps.
  • Communicate effectively through email, phone, text, and other digital platforms.
  • Use Microsoft Office, Excel, and other technology platforms to organize information and manage your business efficiently.
  • Embrace new technology and evolving sales tools that improve productivity and customer service.

Territory Management

  • Plan an efficient weekly route based on account priorities, sales opportunities, and business objectives.
  • Manage time effectively while balancing existing account service with new business development.
  • Regularly evaluate territory performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain consistent account follow-up and ensure commitments are completed.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory as needed. Mileage can vary based on territory size.

Merchandising & Account Service

  • Maintain appropriate merchandising and brand standards within assigned off-premise accounts.
  • Ensure products are properly presented, priced, and positioned.
  • Support supplier and company initiatives, promotions, tastings, and market visits.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, management, operations, and fellow sales representatives to execute market objectives.
What We Offer the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is curious, competitive, organized, technologically capable, and genuinely passionate about wine and people. You don't need to know everything about wine on day one. You do need to be willing to learn, comfortable using technology, accountable for your business, and motivated to become an expert in your market.

All inquiries will be kept confidential. This is a commissioned sales position.

Requirements:

  • Wine industry, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or outside sales experience preferred.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of wine, including major regions, varietals, styles, and production methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and generate sales.
  • Strong computer and technology skills with the ability to learn and utilize multiple sales platforms.
  • Comfortable working with CRM systems, digital ordering platforms, email, spreadsheets, and sales reporting tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Professional, personable, and confident when interacting with buyers, managers, owners, chefs, sommeliers, and other industry professionals.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ability to lift and transport cases of wine weighing up to 50 pounds.
