POSITION OVERVIEW

The Distribution Manager role is responsible for all Distribution operations and inventory control for all warehouses. This role will oversee the wireless warehouse management system (WWMS), shipping, receiving, first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory rotation, lot control, and manage warehouse efficiency, customer on-time delivery, shipping error rates, warehouse safety, and other business objectives and KPI’s.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee warehouse operations and warehouse associates at all distribution centers
  • Collaborate on a recurring basis with executive management to establish distribution and inventory control related goals and key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate current and future risks
  • Evaluate, analyze, and implement processes to improve efficiency and performance, and to reduce errors and costs
  • Work together with the Safety Manager to ensure a safe work environment for all employees
  • Train and cross-train all departmental employees to assist in developing a highly functional team
  • Assist with management and scheduling of freight and logistics, as required
  • Responsible for the handling, inspection, and approval of all inbound and outbound shipments
  • Supervise inventory transfers between distribution centers
  • Manage the WWMS workbench to assign duties and tasks to distribution associates
  • Frequently review and adjust WWMS settings, including; shipping, receiving, put-away, pick, and replenishment methods, to optimize Distribution performance
  • Achieves inventory management, scheduling coordination, and process improvement objectives
  • Oversee the cycle-count process and inventory accuracy at all warehouse locations
  • Ensure inventory is stored accurately and properly, minimizing damage and lost inventory
  • Manage delivery schedules, fleet vehicles, and local delivery shipments
  • Work with internal departments on projects and tasks to meet all business requirements
  • Evaluate and implement 3rd party logistic programs, as required
  • Arranges the disposal of scrap, recycling, and surplus materials
  • Update and maintain the department budget
  • Maintain distribution records
  • All other duties, as assigned


Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) (preferred)
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, or other applicable Lean training (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Distribution or Distribution-related Leadership or supervision
  • ERP experience (required)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day operations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Aptness to read, analyze and interpret supply chain related data
  • Ability to communicate and articulate information
  • Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems
  • Able to use sound judgement and perform strategic decision making
  • Capability to elicit cooperation and quality information from a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to measure and analyze key performance indicators (ROI and KPIs)
  • Intermediate level ability in the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
