Senior Consultant - Production Planner (Manufacturing)
Infosys Consulting, the management and technology consulting unit of Infosys Ltd, is seeking motivated Manufacturing Industry Consultants as part of our team of front-runners in Manufacturing Industry consulting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the Manufacturing sector with a strong understanding of one or more of the following industries: Automotive, Aerospace, Defense and Industrial Products. Successful candidates will understand manufacturing, distribution and supply chain for discrete and continuous manufacturing processes, including enabling technologies.
About the Role
The Senior Consultant role within the Manufacturing consulting practice of Infosys focuses on partnering with business and technology stakeholders of our clients to help craft and execute their strategy. Consultants provide support to Principal Consultants and Infosys teams in different stages of projects including Strategy, Business Case definition, Requirements, Business Process Design/Re-engineering, Business Operations and Business Architecture, that enables our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Lead engagements at Manufacturing clients to address the pressing issues faced in the industry related to updating and transforming manufacturing facilities with new technologies to increase throughput, improve quality, lower cost of operations and increase sustainability.
  • Conduct interviews / workshops / walkthroughs with subject matter experts and process owners to elicit and document requirements
  • Understand key business processes in manufacturing and supply chain like engineering, production, quality control, inspection, procurement, planning, distribution, warranty, returns, etc.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements, processes, design and develop data maps and business cases required to support transformation initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the client organization and Infosys on Manufacturing and Supply Chain transformation programs and initiatives
  • Provide leadership and mentor junior consultants in the engagement team
  • Collaborate with other streams including technology delivery streams across Infosys to deliver a compelling value proposition to the client
  • Publish thought leadership and insights on manufacturing industry trends and related challenges and opportunities, including the impact of and opportunities from AI in Manufacturing
  • Support business development activities, assist in presales and sales process. Support client plant team in running plant operations, perform system transactions, along with coaching existing plant team members.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Manufacturing Sector companies as a direct employee or consultant.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing industry trends such as Industry 4.0, digitization, AI/ML, Cloud, etc.
  • Experience in process improvement in business operations through analysis of current state, root cause analysis, developing insights, identifying solutions, and designing future states
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including presentation skills (development of the presentation and executive level presentation)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation
  • Proven ability to lead projects, build strong and effective business relationships
  • Ability to facilitate discussions, analyze and de-construct problems, develop structured solutions and categorize challenges in the project environment
  • Highly motivated with strong analytical acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel extensively.

Specific Qualifications for Production Planner role
  • Able to commute to work locations in Marshall MI, 4 days a week
  • Must have strong materials management background working in a manufacturing environment along with SAP S/4HANA user experience.
  • Production Planner is responsible for balancing customer demand, material availability, and plant capacity to ensure on-time production
    • Translate demand into production plans by reviewing forecasts, customer orders, and demand signals, then creating feasible production schedules and planned orders
    • Run and manage MRP (Material Requirements Planning) to ensure materials, components, and purchased parts are available when needed, while identifying and resolving shortages and planning exceptions.
    • Monitor capacity and production constraints across work centers, assembly lines, and critical resources, adjusting schedules to address bottlenecks and optimize throughput.
    • Convert and release production orders, ensuring BOMs, routings, and manufacturing instructions are accurately reflected and ready for execution on the shop floor.
    • Manage production exceptions and schedule adherence by responding to supplier delays, inventory shortages, engineering changes, equipment downtime, and changing customer requirements.
    • Coordinate cross-functionally with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, quality, and supply chain teams to maintain delivery performance, inventory targets, and production efficiency.
