Job description

Job Title: Overhead Lineman 2nd Class

Department: Operations

Reports To: Overhead Foreman

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week.

Location:

Position Purpose:

Overhead 2nd Class Lineman performs electrical work onsite, in the construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, electrical substations, and related equipment. Other tasks include climbing wood poles, ladders, and towers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • You will work safely, complying with all company safety rules & policies, while performing new construction or maintenance work of energized and de-energized overhead work.

  • Comprehend job prints or work orders.

  • Install or remove overhead conductors, coverup, wood, steel, or concrete poles and supports.

  • With guidance, install or remove mechanical jumpers, capacitors, regulators, transformers, transformer banks, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, switchgear, troubleshoot primary and secondary systems and clear faulted circuits.

  • SAG conductors.

  • With guidance, comply with Switching and Tagging procedures.

  • Practice Positive Control.

  • With guidance, install and remove personal and equipment grounds.

  • Establish Equipotential Grounding.

  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing.

  • You must work from a bucket and/or climb different types of structures and have your own climbing tools.

We also require you to speak and listen while performing job tasks. You will also frequently require you to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform tasks in outside weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Communicate in English.

  • Ability to travel and work for extended periods in different locations.

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and acceptable driving record
