Job description

We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on Director of Distribution to lead end‑to‑end distribution center operations and drive operational excellence across a high‑volume logistics environment. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing facility performance, inventory management, workforce development, capacity planning, process optimization, and customer service metrics. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in large‑scale distribution operations, continuous improvement, and team leadership while maintaining a focus on efficiency, quality, and scalability.

Position Responsibilities Distribution Operations Management
  • Lead daily distribution center operations to ensure timely and cost-effective order fulfillment.
  • Monitor operational performance against established service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Optimize workflows, labor allocation, and operational processes to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Inventory Control & Accuracy
  • Oversee inventory management programs, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to minimize discrepancies and improve inventory visibility.
  • Ensure proper inventory controls are maintained throughout the operation.
Capacity Planning & Forecasting
  • Develop short‑term and long‑term capacity plans to support business growth.
  • Analyze operational trends, volume forecasts, and resource requirements.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to align distribution capabilities with business objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high‑performing management and operational teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee growth initiatives.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate facility layout, workflow design, and operational structures to support scalability.
Quality & Customer Service
  • Partner with quality and operational teams to ensure product standards and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Monitor shipping performance, service levels, and fulfillment accuracy.
  • Drive corrective actions and process enhancements when necessary.
Strategic Planning & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Develop and execute strategic operational plans that support organizational growth.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, finance, customer service, and executive leadership teams.
  • Support facility expansion, transition, or optimization initiatives as needed.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within distribution, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated success managing large‑scale distribution center environments.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation, and fulfillment processes.
  • Experience with workforce planning, forecasting, and operational budgeting.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment and maintain a visible leadership presence on the warehouse floor.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Certified Logistics Professional (CLP)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
