Job Description
Sr. Regional EHS Manager - South Carolina (Anderson & Pelzer)
Responsible for driving Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) performance across multiple manufacturing and distribution operations in Anderson and Pelzer, SC. This role leads the development and execution of practical, site-specific EHS strategies and programs that:
- Raise awareness of risks and control strategies across manufacturing and distribution environments
- Reduce and eliminate hazards that may result in injuries, illnesses, and financial loss
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and company standards
- Drive a strong safety culture through operational engagement and leadership presence
- Align EHS strategy and execution across manufacturing and warehouse operations to ensure consistency, scalability, and risk reduction across the regional footprint
- Establish and reinforce ownership and accountability at all levels to ensure safety is embedded as a core operational responsibility
This role partners directly with site leadership to ensure consistent execution of EHS programs across both production and logistics functions, while aligning with regional and enterprise EHS strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Multi-Site & Functional EHS Leadership
- Lead EHS performance across the Anderson and Pelzer manufacturing and warehouse operations
- Drive strategic alignment of EHS programs across production, material handling, and distribution activities
- Hold site leadership and frontline teams accountable for safety performance, ensuring clear ownership of risks, actions, and outcomes
- Standardize programs while adapting to site- and function-specific risks
- Partner with plant and operations leaders to embed EHS into daily workflows
Risk Identification & Control
- Identify safety and environmental hazards across manufacturing and warehouse processes
- Implement controls addressing production, material handling, and logistics risks
Incident Prevention & Investigation
- Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and injuries
- Identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Drive serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention strategies including electrical safety, LOTO, machine guarding, and mobile equipment risks
Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and South Carolina regulatory requirements
- Manage environmental programs including air permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and stormwater/NPDES compliance
Data, Metrics & Operational Alignment
- Track, analyze, and communicate safety and environmental performance metrics
- Integrate EHS metrics across manufacturing and warehouse operations to support unified decision-making and resource prioritization
- Ensure performance metrics drive accountability and continuous improvement at the site and leadership level
- Provide clear, actionable insights to site and regional leadership
Program Development & Continuous Improvement
- Lead development and continuous improvement of EHS programs and procedures
- Apply Lean principles and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts to drive sustainable performance
Training & Culture
- Deliver targeted EHS training for manufacturing and warehouse teams
- Promote a culture where safety ownership is expected, visible, and consistently reinforced across all levels of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or related field
- 5-10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments (multi-site strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices
- Experience in program development, incident investigation, and safety systems (LOTO, Arc Flash, Machine Guarding, Work at Height, Mobile Equipment)
- Strong analytical and leadership capability with a continuous improvement mindset
Certifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) - Preferred
- Additional EHS-related certifications (e.g., CIH, CHMM) are a plus
Additional Requirements
- Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels
- Proficiency in MS Office and EHS data systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
Travel Requirement
- Approximately 25% travel between Anderson and Pelzer sites, with limited overnight travel
