Job Description

W.R. Grace is hiring a Logistics Specialist to join its Supply Chain team in the Americas. ย Reporting to the Sr Manager, Logistics - Americas, the Logistics Specialist will be responsible to support over the road (OTR) transportation operations (TL, LTL, Bulk), rail operations, ocean and drayage transportation operations, and warehouse operations, within a matrixed organization to achieve safety, service, quality, and cost goals while driving an enhanced customer experience.

The ideal candidate will be based in Columbia, MD.ย  Must be able to travel up to 10% domestically to meet with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizing your supply chain knowledge and analytical skills, support supply chain mode managers to drive productivity, and enable world-class delivery execution.
  • Support supply chain projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely execution and alignment with company goals.
  • Use data to help drive business results and improve the customer experience.
  • Interact with carriers, TMS partner, warehouses, internal and external stakeholders regarding delivery execution, quality, safety, and cost
  • Track and analyze industry metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Grace distribution network.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), SAP and data analytics tools to gather insights and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop service and cost reports regarding transportation and warehouse performance
  • Support partner audits to ensure compliance with Grace's Responsible Care Management System (RCMS).
  • Play a key role in Grace's partnership with TMS provider, transportation, and warehouse partners.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering with
  • 2+ years of distribution, logistics, transportation or warehouse operations experience OR
  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Transportation Management, or related field with
  • 4+ years of distribution, logistics, transportation or warehouse operations experience
  • SAP, or another ERP and Microsoft Office Suite experience with deep knowledge of Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or hazardous materials industries
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR)
  • Knowledge of chemical supply chains, including transportation of raw materials and finished products
  • Understanding of chemical storage, handling, and distribution requirements
  • Carrier management and freight optimization experience
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting logistics and supply chain data to drive operational efficiencies, cost savings, and service improvements
  • Ownership mentality in finding solutions and taking initiative
  • Curiosity about how processes work and can ask the right questions
  • Adaptability to change and is willing to keep up to date with the trends and issues of the supply chain industry
