Loader I
Location: Fillmore
Schedule: Full-Time | Outdoor Yard Role
Compensation: $17.40 - $18.00 per hour, depending on experience
The Role
Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking dependable Loader I team members to safely and accurately load plant material and trees onto company trucks for customer deliveries and inter-site transfers.
Working under the direction of Yard Management, Loaders are responsible for ensuring proper weight distribution, load security, plant quality, and delivery readiness. This role plays a critical part in protecting product integrity and supporting safe transportation.
Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, safety awareness, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced yard environment.
What You'll Do
  • Load plant material and trees onto delivery trucks
  • Ensure proper weight distribution and safe load configurations
  • Tie down and tarp loads to meet safety standards
  • Strategically load trucks to support multiple customer stops
  • Verify correct plant material and quantities before departure
  • Maintain quality control standards for outgoing product
  • Hand-load smaller material and team-lift larger items as required
  • Use basic hand tools including banding tools, hammers, and hand pruners
  • Maintain yard cleanliness, organization, and safety
What You Bring
Required
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow loading and weight distribution guidelines
  • Physical ability to lift and move plant material
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Team-oriented mindset
Preferred
  • Nursery or landscape yard experience
  • Experience with load securement and tarping
Work Environment & Expectations
This is a physically demanding outdoor role performed in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Work is conducted on uneven ground surfaces with extensive standing and walking required.
Physical requirements include:
  • Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs (75% of the time)
  • Team lifting up to 100 lbs (25% of the time)
  • Frequent gross grasping and use of hands and fingers
PPE is required as applicable.
