Job description

Job Title: Distribution Engineer - NJ

Location: Hamilton, NJ

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Alpha 3 is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support electrical utility and private distribution projects. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) are expected to be in the office and two days per week from home. Preferred office location Hamilton, NJ. Other locations (PA, DE) may be available, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply knowledge and experience to analyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings and revise existing designs and drawings for electrical distribution systems. 
  • Perform and create field reviews, sketches, CADD, and GIS design. 
  • Use knowledge of components, arrangements, and standards to complete design packages for aerial and underground electric distribution lines and provide guidance to designers and drafters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in electrical/electronics engineering or a closely related field
  • Master’s degree in electrical power engineering or at least two years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience in the design of electric utility distribution systems
  • P.E. license or EIT with near-term ability and intent to obtain a license
  • Knowledge of electric utility distribution systems including familiarity with physical characteristics, access, connection, and support requirements for poles, conductors, pad-mounted and pole-mounted transformers, disconnects, reclosers, and similar equipment.
  • Utility distribution project experience, including:
  1. Familiarity with clearance requirements
  2. Knowledge of construction traffic control
  3. Knowledge of common network configurations and components
  4. Knowledge of electrical codes including NEC and NESC
  5. Knowledge of CADD and GIS tools
  • Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
  • Ability to adapt to various client standards and procedures
  • Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with clients and interface with engineers and vendors
  • Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Attention to detail and pride in work product quality.

Salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
