Job Title: Distribution Technician

Department: Focus: HOPE Food

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


General Statement of Duties:

Performs duties under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager. Responsible for unloading and loading trucks and boxcars, cutting, and moving stock. Decisions are made within the limits of established practices, policies, and procedures with supervisors available to handle unusual situations.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload trucks and boxcars.
  • Open food boxes using box cutters.
  • Drive Hilo to move stock from storage to the distribution area.
  • Stock distribution area as needed.
  • Pack food boxes at the checkout counter.
  • Build prepackaged boxes for seniors.
  • Assist in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Language Proficiency: Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic required (verbal). Must be able to effectively assist non-English speaking customers, resolve order/distribution inquiries, and communicate internal warehouse and safety procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software including Outlook.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional, polite, and courteous manner.
  • Strong commitment to civil and human rights.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Good knowledge of general warehouse duties
  • Knowledge of proper lifting procedures.
  • Certification for driving Hilo or ability to attain certification.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting when driving the vehicle long distances within the service areas.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
