Associate, Distribution Center

Job Summary
The Distribution Center Associate plays a key role in delivering the Hollywood Feed experience by carefully picking and packing orders for our retail stores. This commitment ensures that our retail store shelves remain stocked with reliable, high-quality products that our customers and their pets depend on.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize picking technology and/or handheld scanners to accurately select the specified items and quantities from assigned storage locations within the distribution center.
  • Verify product codes, locations, descriptions, and quantities to confirm that selected items are accurate.
  • Identify damaged or defective items and report them to supervisors.
  • Ensure that all selected items, crates, or containers are securely packaged, accurately labelled, and accompanied by the appropriate shipping documents for each package.
  • Ensure inventory records are kept current by accurately recording picked quantities in the system and overseeing appropriate stock rotation procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, operating equipment safely, and reporting any safety hazards or incidents.
  • Conduct regular maintenance inspections on equipment and promptly report any identified malfunctions or damage to the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve shipping deadlines and sustain productivity.
  • Expected to complete assigned daily tasks within working zone according to required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the distribution operation.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of distribution center experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to effectively operate individually or part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to maintain open and respectful communication with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Role requires working in a non-climate-controlled light industrial environment.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, sit-down, counterbalance lift, and powered hand jack.
  • Physically able to perform the job functions for 8-10-hour workdays.
  • Employees may be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, along with bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and other physical movements essential to daily tasks.
