Job description

Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor, this position significantly contributes to nVent's financial performance by performing various tasks related to the distribution function with a focus on Inventory and Outbound while also providing leadership to other associates. By leveraging continuous improvement, effective project management, and leadership skills, this position will help nVent deliver "best in class" results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take an active role in managing multiple aspects of the distribution center operations including: Receiving, Inventory Control, Material Handling, Order Picking, and Outbound
  • Lead a team of distribution center personnel in a fast-paced environment providing visible leadership in order to maintain a motivated, positive and productive work force
  • Contribute to the business by adhering to best practices and identifying and executing on continuous improvement opportunities
  • Identifies, coaches and develops team members
  • Identify and allocate resources necessary to accomplish departmental objectives
  • Participates in hiring and training of employees
  • Participates in cross-functional business team focused on continuous improvement in metrics
  • Participates in daily start up meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Leadership experience preferred: experience having led teams or projects
* Experience with distribution processes: Inventory, Receiving, Picking, Packing, and/or Shipping
Skills:
  • Preferred experience leading teams to achieve goals
  • Must have experience in a fast-paced distribution environment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and electronically
  • Must be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, stand/bend/stoop for extended periods of time
  • Must have knowledge of distribution processes, inventory control, lean manufacturing/continuous Improvement concepts & ERP/WMS systems
  • Proven ability to use resourcefulness and initiative to make decisions and take actions to insure timely and accurate shipping to all customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to lift documents/work materials up to 70 pounds in weight
  • Must be able to operate all material handling equipment
